Blue Moon

Like a celestial body

deep water

high in the sky.

Like an open shell found on a beach in a full moon night

it opens us for the wonder of life.

Resting.

Silent.

Blue.

A reminder of the constant passing of time

with small and important occurrences.

Time immemorial.

A “Blue Moon” is an expression that refers to the rare occurrence of two full moons in one month. I like also the fact that “blue” is an old word for sadness.

As a head, my “Blue Moon” could be human or animal; … it is a metaphor for the spirit of being in and off the world.

With regard to the title, this sculpture seeks to envelope you in an intimate and deep encounter, reflecting on the fullness of a moment, the merging of form and color to reflect a deep yearning of a fullness of being alive.

“Blue Moon” is like a celestial body – resembling the depth of water and the sky. It is like an open shell, found on a beach in a full moon night that opens us for the wonder of life. Resting. Silent. Blue.

It is a reminder of the constant passing of time, with small and important occurrences, time immemorial.
